Origin of the name ‘Islam‘
Most religions in the world acquired its name much later and were named with reference to either a person [Christianity – Jesus Christ, Buddhism – Siddhartha Gautama Buddha, Confucianism – Confucius/ Kung Fu Tse etc], tribe [Judaism – Tribe of Judah] or geographical location [Hinduism – Indus River]. Islam however was not named as such but rather its name was given by God in the Qur’an itself; (1)
“This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion”(Qur’an 5:3).
“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to God), never will it be accepted of him” (Qur’an 3:85)
(1) Muslims believe that the complete Qur’an is the verbatim words of God. However people from other faith may not agree with this statement. We shall discuss further on this matter when we address the topic on Qur’an in future, God willing.

bro..before this, my fren (ex christian now muslim) said that before he become a muslim, they..christian people also feel that their religion is the only truth religion. for them, we n other religions is a kafir. hmm..actually i dnt knw how to explain..haha. hope you understand wat i mean. i mean, they feel that we (muslims people) need to be dakwah to return back to the true religion n they mean their religion. it is same like us want to dakwah them, n bring them to the truth religion..that we believe Islam is truth religion. hmm..my question is, how to discus with them about this, all people want to claim their religion is truth religion..u get wat i mean???haha. hope u can understand my broken english..hahaha.

Yes, I agree that most people claim that their religion/belief is the truth. Many of them would claim that none shall enter paradise except those who believe in their religion. Answer to this claim is given in the Qur’an 2:111; “…Produce your prove if you are saying the truth.” Many make such claims based on assumptions
Therefore what a Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Sikh or Buddhist etc. says is not important. The most important would be what our Creator, All Mighty God says.*
The objective of this website is to address such questions.
*This statement may not be true to those who do not believe that God exist. Hence a separate discussion would be needed on the subject wether God exist.
